ARTICLE: AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT MONITORS PERFORMANCE OF SMART CITIES
The performance of smart cities is being monitored under new guidelines released by the Australian government. This initiative tracks the success of liveable, fully-integrated and citizen-focused cities.
As Australia’s “first National Cities Performance Framework,” this blueprint defines the parameters for smart city planning and implementation. Fully-tabulated data is available for citizens, planners, and the industry through a dedicated dashboard.
This dashboard will help governments, industry and the community better target cities’ policies, the overall investments, 21st century planning and negotiating “City Deals.”
The initial focus is on Australia’s 21 largest cities – each with a population of above 80,000. The monitoring includes Western Sydney, recognising the region’s national significance and alignment with a high-profile Western Sydney City Deal.
